Artist Salon with Robert Goldsworthy
Plein air oil painting means packing up your easel, heading outdoors, and painting directly from nature. It’s a race against the sun, the clouds, and the breeze as you capture shifting light, glowing color, and the mood of a scene before it changes. But the goal isn’t just to record what a landscape looks like. It’s to catch how it feels, through bold color and lively, spontaneous brushwork.
Join artist Robert as he shares a collection of paintings created out in the field, along with the stories behind them. He’ll also give a live demonstration and walk you through the gear he relies on when he’s painting on location, so you can see exactly what it takes to bring the outdoors onto the canvas.
Our salons are free and open to everyone, so bring a friend and join us for an informative and entertaining evening.
Light & Shadow Workshop
Ever painted an apple that looked more like a flat red circle? Sketched a portrait that seemed to float right off the page? Don’t worry. You’re not missing talent. You’re missing light and shadow.
Whether you work in oil, watercolor, charcoal, or anything in between, the secret to making art look real comes down to one thing: understanding how light behaves and where shadows fall. Master that, and suddenly your still lifes have weight, your portraits come alive, and your landscapes have depth you could practically walk into.
