Feather Artist
I was born in Sante Fe, NM but grew up in many places, mostly among the farms and vineyard of California’s San Joaquin Valley. I raised a family in the Colorado Mountain town of Steamboat Springs, and now reside in rural Weld County, near Ft. Lupton, where I create Feather Blooms floral designs in my home studio.
I’ve been making hand crafts of all kinds and selling them at arts & crafts shows for many years, but my work took on an entirely new dimension when I discovered that I could make these amazing, exquisite flowers from the natural Feathers of the Ring-necked Pheasant.
The development of my Feather Blooms art began when one of my hunter friends showed me a pheasant pelt and I saw the marvelous array of intricate patterns and brilliant colors among the feathers. I am pleased that the uniqueness and quality of my pieces has allowed me to display my work for others to enjoy.
Feather Blooms
A Feather Bloom is a hand-crafted “flower” made from the feathers of the Ring-Necked Pheasant. The feathers reveal a multitude of colors, some with an iridescent glow – all revealing their own natural beauty. To make feathers into flowers, each pelt is meticulously hand-washed and dried for cleanliness and to bring out the natural brilliance of the feathers.
