Kary Mayes

Kary received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from CSU in Apparel and Textile Design in 1984. She has designed for several national companies in the apparel and juvenile product industry, such as Ocean Pacific, Body Glove, Gerry Baby Products and Evenflo to name a few over the years. In 2004, she purchased a contract sewing factory in the Denver Metro area which she ran with her husband Morry for nearly 16 years. They sold their business and retired in 2019. Over the years, she has dabbled in watercolor and acrylic painting with minimal formal training. Upon moving to Heritage Todd Creek in 2016, she joined the Watercolor Group and revived her passion for painting. Since restarting her artistic journey, she has been able to paint nearly every day. She has enjoyed taking watercolor painting workshops from Susie Wheeler and Gary Spetz to learn and expand her watercolor painting techniques. Recently, Kary started oil painting and has unexpectedly grown to love painting wildlife landscapes and botanicals. She is now a juried member of Paletteers Art Club and has shown her work in several art shows in Colorado and Wyoming. Kary is currently a member of the Main Street Creatives Gallery in Brighton, CO as a studio artist.
