Ed Hawkins

A friend told Ed about MSC; he went there and spoke with Judee Dickinson, and before long he was renting a corner of a large upstairs room as studio space. Ed filled in as art teacher when Judee had to attend art shows, he found he really enjoyed teaching and so continued teaching along with Judee. Judee decided to focus on her art career fulltime and to no longer teach. Ed continues teaching today. Most of his students enjoy working in oil paint, which is also Ed's primary medium, and therefore that is the main skill he teaches, he also teaches acrylic and pastel painting as well as drawing. He introduced pottery classes to the Academy which continue to be very popular.

Ed is a self-taught artist who has been creating art for most of his life. He enjoys painting in oils and acrylics as well as (soft) pastels. He has worked in several mediums including pen and ink, inkpainting, watercolor, scraperboard (scratchboard), theatre sets using Styrofoam or wood grounds and house paint, pencil, Charcoal, conte, etc he also sculpts in clay. Ed teaches drawing and painting in Oils, Acrylics and Pastels.

He also hosted life drawing/painting sessions, with live, clothed models, unfortunately these sessions, as with the other classes, had to be closed down due to Covid, but he is planning to start them up again in the near future so if you are interested in taking classes or attending the life sessions you can contact Ed at ed@edthebrit.com  or text him at 303-718-1014
